A few weeks since their pre-wedding shoot at Woodlands Hotel, Ha and Tac were married on Tuesday in a civil wedding ceremony at the hotel on outskirts of Leeds.

The day started early in Manchester with Ha getting ready at home before travelling to her parents where Tac would arrive with his best man to collect the bride and perfom the first of the day’s traditional Tea Ceremonies. It’s traditional at Chinese weddings that the groom (with the aid of his best men )has to prove he’s worthy of marrying the bride, he accomplishes this by bargaining his way into the house, usually in form of games and challenges overseen by the bridesmaids. Today the bridesmaids were ready to really challenge Tac and his best men with a number of tasks and games to perform with penalties for wrong answers or cheating ranging from leg waxing to brushing teeth with Wasabi and Chilli sauce! After proving his worth Tac as allowed entry where he was greeted by ha wearing a traditional chinese wedding dress.

During the first Tea ceremony of the day Ha and Tac served Ha’s family with tea before we made our way across the Pennines to Bradford to perform the second tea ceremony of the day at Tac’s parents house, and it’s only just 9AM!

The civil wedding ceremony took place at Woodlands Hotel near leeds with ha wearing a western wedding dress for the ceremony attended by family and friends. The weather in Yorkshire was certainly better than the rain we had left in Lancashire allowing us to quickly complete the formal wedding photographs outside under sunny skies.

The wedding breakfast was to be served at maxi’s chinese restaurant in Leeds city centre where Ha and Tac greeted around 300 guests for their 14 course banquette, during which the wedding guests were entertained with traditional Chinese Lion Dancers before the customary toasts during whioch the bride and groom stop at every table to join in a toast with the guests. The toast was done with Brandy and there were 32 tables – It was going to be a good afternoon!

Following a number of formal photographs at the restaurant we headed back to The Woodlands Hotel where ha once again changed back into her english wedding dress for some photos with tac and the wedding car before rejoining the guests for the speeches and evening wedding reception. Shortly after first dance we headed outdoors for Ha to throw her bouquet and a few more photos with the bridesmaids before I bid them goodnight and ended a mammoth 16 hour day, Ha and Tac still had several hours of partying to go!
