Wedding photographer training courses - Training for wedding photography

Following last weeks sell out wedding photography workshop at Hazlewood Castle, I was  back again this week to host a second “Book, shoot and sell eighty weddings workshop” attended by eight photographers of vastly differing levels of experience the workshop was again a great success and good fun along the way.

Following a short chat on Tuesday we were quickly discussing the technicalities of flash on a modern digital camera before heading out with models Gabriel and Viv for some photographs under a bright blue sky, a stark contrast to the previous weeks fog and mist. Photographing in a variety of locations throughout the day we were able to shoot using a mix of natural light, video light and flash both on and off camera. A first for many of the attendants who had stuck to only on camera flash for their previous weddings. I’ve always enjoyed shooting weddings on bright blue sky sunny days, something a lot of photographers will tell you isn’t ideal weather for photography, personally I love it and by the end of the day everyone could see the potential of weddings on such a bright day.

A sunset and night shots ended the days photography. With day two being more theory based the cameras were kept in the bag whilst I talked about marketing, websites, online sales, album design and workflow.

Over the last two weeks we’ve had attendees from all around the UK and even as far afield as Belgium. The next training days are portfolio shoots at Walton Hall and Hazlewood Castle on May 10th and 11th. A Off Camera Flash workshop aimed solely at freeing your flash gun is on July 25th. The next two day wedding photography workshop will be at Hazlewood Castle in October.  For details of all wedding photography training courses, portfolio days and workshops please click here.
