Last week saw the first of this years Wedding photography portfolio training days where photographers of all experience levels can photographs models in wedding situations with a view to learning new tips and tricks and to come away with some great images to embellish their portfolio. (Details of future dates available here)

The two one day portfolio days were held on Tuesday and Wednesday last week and saw photographers attending from all over the UK and a couple from Europe. With vastly differing levels of experience from full time professionals to those just starting out with a basic understanding of camera systems, the days were a great opportunity to get hands on with the models under direction from myself as we explored  a number of different wedding scenarios and lighting techniques including off camera flash, video lighting and natural light.

On Wednesday at Hazlewood Castle we were shooting until 10Pm and so started the day little later. After a short talk about lighting and specifically flash we were joined by models Emma and Mike for a mammoth nine hours of photography. During this time we headed into the woods, explored various locations and lighting techniques around Hazlewood Castle and use of big skies before finishing with some after dark photographs.
