On Saturday 12th I was awarded Landscape Photographer of the Year by The Societies an international organisation of photographers of which I am a member. Each year in london at their annual convention a number of awards are given out following monthly competitions to establish the overall winner and title of photographer of the year. This year I was fortunate that one of my award winning photos had been chosen as the overall winner for the Landscape category.

The photo (below) shows Whitby Piers taken on a cold and overcast February morning last year. The judges were drawn to the serene feel to the photo caused by a long exposure which has streaked the clouds and flattened the sea swell.
