I met up with Mick and Nicola at Hazlewood Castle on Sunday for their pre-wedding photo shoot.  Like most couples before a pre-wedding shoot they were  a  little apprehensive  but were soon into the swing of things and came away safe in the knowledge that they’ll feel a lot more comfortable on their wedding day at Hazlewood Castle later this month.

Thank you for a great experience on Sunday - both Mick and I had good fun. The Photos are amazing and we just can't wait for the big day.

Thanks again for your patience with our lack of coordination! You have the patience of a saint!!

Natalie and Wes are marrying at Walton Hall Waterton Park near Wakefield in a  few weeks time. I met up with them on Sunday morning at the hotel to discuss their wedding plans and finalise the photography before their Pre-wedding photo shoot.

  1. What a fabulous location! Great photos too-- you are really good at setting people at ease, and taking natural looking photographs.

On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Marc and Joanne’s wedding at Hazlewood Castle near Leeds and York. Bridal preparation took place at Joanne’s home in Brighouse before we made the journey over to Hazlewood Castle for the wedding.

Marc and Joanne at Hazlewood Castle

Marc had arrived at Hazlewood Castle earlier in the day courtesy of Joanne’s father’s Aston Martin.  A few obligatory photos of Marc with the car and it was time to await the arrival of Joanne who had chosen a much more sedate carriage, arriving in a 1950’s Bentley courtesy of Dovecote wedding cars.

Following their wedding blessing and a big group shot from Hazlewood’s front steps Joanne and Marc took a drive in the wedding car . I caught up with them for some photos before rejoining the guests at the drinks reception.

With much better than forecast weather we were able to head outside again later in the evening to photograph the happy couple around the grounds of Hazlewood Castle in the dark.

  1. The details are absolutely amazing, love the calendar and the expressions of everyone involved. The images of the bride and groom alone are great and the expressions are wonderful, love the images as I am sure your bride and groom do as well.

  2. Great wedding coverage. Fantasic use of light and beautiful natural style! Love the detail photos too.

I caught up with Andy and Ruth early on Sunday morning at Hodsock Priory for a Pre-wedding photo shoot. The pre-shoot is a great way of getting acquainted with having your photograph taken whilst also providing an opportunity to  get to know your wedding photographer better, so relaxing you more on your wedding day.

John and Geeta married on Bank Holiday Monday at Walton Hall at Waterton Park near Wakefield. Geeta had chosen to prepare at home and so we joined here there first for photographs of bridal preparation before catching up with John and the groomsmen at Walton Hall.

The weather forecast had said bright blue and sun, half right, the bright blue being interspersed with dark threatening clouds and at one point even hail stones. Dodging the showers we made the most of the blue skies and following the wedding breakfast John and Geeta were happy to venture outdoors again for a few more photographs before their evening reception started.

The large screen display was very well received by the bride and groom and all their guests and I provided Geeta with a copy of the digital files we’d used in the display to take away to kuala Lumpur, where they will have a second celebration with some more of Geeta’s family.

The evenings photography was rounded off with some photos of the bride and groom against a well lit Walton Hall.

Hodsock priory wedding photography

Jo and Stefan had only recently booked me for their wedding at Hodsock Priory on Sunday. The brief for the day had been planned by email and telephone, Jo and Stefan live in Surrey and so we’d never actually met before. This wasn’t really a problem though as Jo and Stefan had requested very few formal images and a more natural photographic coverage of their wedding day.

Hodsock Priory provides an excellent venue and facilities for a wedding along with stunning grounds for photographs so even with only a few formals we made the most of the grounds with Jo and Stefan taking a walk through the Blossom trees and around the lake for some quick pictures before rejoining their guests. Shooting so much informally (Often referred to as Reportage wedding photography) allowed me to blend in with the guests and record their wedding day as it happened. Following first dance and plenty of dancing to the band (them not us) we rounded off the day with some photographs of the bride and groom under the floodlit archway.

Thanks to Chris and Lauren for your wonderful images and absolute professionalism on the day. It was such a pleasure dealing with you and the final product is absolutely amazing. Being able to view select images on screen during the actual evening of the wedding was a nice touch and everyone was transfixed! Thanks again, Valkerie - bridesmaid.

Wholeheartedly agree with Valks. It was an excellent day and the photos are amazing. Chris and Lauren were great and were really unobtrusive. The result - some brilliant natural shots of the bride and groom and all the guests enjoying the day. Seeing the photos on the television screen at the reception was a great touch. Being able to log on and view the photos online within days of the wedding was fantastic - given we have friends living in other parts of the world - it made it easy to share great memories from the day. Ordering the photos online was also a cinch - and I now have some of the best photos of us guys and gals from the day to keep! Good job all round!

Thanks Chris for the most amazing pictures of Stef & Jo's special day. The day was absolutely fantastic and you managed to capture everything that was going on and each time i look at your website i can relive the day again and again. I had a hard time choosing which ones to buy as there are so many wonderful pictures and memories. Even friends who sadly couldnt be there on the day have commented how wonderful the photos are and they feel like they were there when looking at them.
Thanks again - Halina (Stef's sister)

Darren and Natalie married on Saturday at St Helen’s Church in Escrick before celebrating at The Parsonage Hotel conveniently located next door. The day started bright and early at Natalie’s mum’s house where the bride and bridesmaids were all getting ready, with hair and make up in full swing as I arrived there was plenty to photograph before the bacon sandwiches arrived courtesy of Natalie’s dad. Natalie was dressed just before I left for the church affording us five minutes of quality time for photographs.

St Helen’s Church is very conveniently located next to The Parsonage just off the A19 and so having parked the car I made the short walk over to the church to Join Lauren who had already made a start on photographing the guests arriving and enjoying a warm morning. Natalie had made the majority of the journey by wedding car before swapping to a horse and carriage for the last mile or so of the journey. The arrival of the horse and carriage coincided magnificently with the rain starting to fall. Thankfully light at first we were able to grab a few shots before heading into the church. Throughout the ceremony we kept a watchful eye on the weather only to see the rain gradually becoming heavier and heavier forcing us to take the formal family photographs inside the church before everyone made a mad dash over to The parsonage. Luckily I’d had the foresight to drop a few brollies in the car before leaving home but this didn’t prevent a soaking as I instead focused on getting some shots of the guests under their brollies whilst trying to hold my own.

With everything upto the wedding breakfast being shot inside, a slight respite in the rain allowed a ten minute window to venture outside for some photographs of the bride and groom and also a big group shot on the steps of The Parsonage. The following images are a selection of those used in the evening display on the big screen.

Another record attendance at Sunday’s wedding fayre at Walton Hall, Waterton Park in Wakefield. The number of brides certainly surpassed all expectations, especially given the downpours mid afternoon. Thank you to all who stopped by and especially those who booked or have since booked me for their wedding photography. Much appreciated.

Due to Waterton Park’s wedding commitments  later in the year the next wedding fayre will be in the Spring of 2011.
