Early Sunday morning I met Hayley and Simon at Hazlewood Castle for their pre-wedding photo shoot. Hayley and Simon will be marrying at Hazlewood Castle next month, following a talk through their wedding day and photography plans we ventured outside for a few photographs.

What a scorcher! Gin clear skies and not even a breeze made Saturday’s wedding at Oulton Hall the hottest of the year. The mercury climbed to 30c as John and kerry married in a civil wedding ceremony in the Repton Room at Oulton Hall on the outskirts of Leeds. The fantastic light was great for photography but the high temperatures meant we had to work fast to create the images before the guests or the cameras melted!  Mindful of this we decided that the photos of John and kerry should be taken after the wedding breakfast when hopefully the temperature had dropped and we would have a little more shade for them to keep cool.

Oulton Hall is as stunning inside as out and so we began our photo session inside the Hotel before heading back into the sunshine for photographs of John and kerry. The aim was to have a selection of these edited before the evening reception began half an hour later to add to the big screen display we’d already set up. Some speedy work on the Macs ensured we had some of the great evening shots ready before the guests arrived at the Claret Jug for the evening reception. The screen went down a storm!

Over the last two weeks I’ve photographed a couple of weddings where previous bride and groom’s have  attended as guests, infact the now married couples have been the ones responsible for recommending me to their friends who subsequently booked me for their wedding photography.

Last week at Claire and Simon’s wedding I caught up with Mark and Kelly who married at Waterton Park in Wakefield two years ago. The couple are now proud parents of a very new and shiny little boy named ‘Kai’. This weekend Nicola and Richard were on the guest list and enjoying their first time away from their now four week old little girl ‘Summer’. Richard and Nicola also married at Waterton Park. Congratulations to both couples.

Scott and Charlotte married on Sunday in a civil wedding ceremony at Walton Hall, Waterton Park near Wakefield. The days photography began with Charlotte’s bridal preparations before I joined Scott on the island for some photos as he was preparing for the day ahead.

the wedding ceremony, the bride, groom, and guests made their way onto the island for a drinks reception and some photographs before the wedding breakfast.  The experience of a pre-wedding photo shoot a few weeks previously had helped Scott and Charlotte relax infront of the camera and meant we were able to capture some stunning photographs of the two of them together and make the most of the limited time available whilst still allowing them plenty of time with their guests.

The evening reception guests were treated to a BBQ and a ‘Pink’ tribute act. the singer managing to get a large proportion of the guests dancing during her second slot. We rounded the days photography off with some photographs of the bride and groom outside a now dark Walton Hall.

Bizarre how things work out, in the last four years or so I’ve photographed one wedding at The Parsonage in Escrick on the outskirts of York, in the last two months I’ve been there three times.

Stan and Leanne chose a civil ceremony at The Parsonage and requested informal coverage of their wedding day. (A few formals were added in for good measure, but the majority of the day was unposed).

Thank you! Michelle and Simon pass on their thanks for their wedding photography in Leeds, January 2010Leeds wedding photography It’s good to know your work is appreciated! This morning a card arrived from Michelle and Simon whose Leeds wedding I photographed at the end of January this year.

” Dear Chris, I’m sorry for this belated thank-you for the wonderful photos you took of us at the end of January. We seem to have been caught up in a bit of a whirlwind since then!

We really love the incredible images you captured of the day and appreciated your patient and unobtrusive manner. We’ve had a lot of compliments on the spur-of-the-moment photographs you took outside Albion place as you were leaving [one above] . We wish you continued success. All the best, Michelle and Simon.”
