Andy and Tracy were married in June at Hazlewood Castle near York. As a recommended supplier over the last few years I have photographed a number of weddings at Hazlewood Castle, however today’s was the first time I’ve photographed a wedding ceremony taking place in the Castle’s Great Hall. The wedding breakfast was to take place in a marquee within the Castle grounds the Great Hall was the ideal choice of rooms for the civil wedding ceremony.
Following bridal preparation at Tracy’s home near Wakefield we made the short hop up the M1 to Hazlewood Castle to join Andy before the wedding ceremony. Tracy and her bridesmaids were arriving in convoy with no fewer than three wedding cars. Following the ceremony these cars made a superb backdrop in the courtyard for bride and groom photos before we re-joined the drinks reception and the guests enjoying the summer sun.
The weather was ideal for the day with a near gin clear blue sky, bright sun and just a little cooling breeze, although the sun makes the job of photographing a wedding a little more tricky, the effects and possibilities a sunny day offer certainly outweigh the negatives and just require more work on behalf of the wedding photographer.
The sunset was equally spectacular and with Sophie running the photobooth style shoot in the marquee Andy and Tracy joined me out the front just before 10PM for a number of sunset photographs. The sunset and after dark photographs will certainly make a great end to their wedding album.
